Broadway at Encircle with Joey Contreras, Brian Russell Carey, & Natalie Weiss

Come join NYC musical theatre songwriter Joey Contreras, actor Brian Russell Carey and Wicked star Natalie Weiss for an evening of music and conversation. Brian, a Gay Mormon who grew up in Utah, is dating Joey and they will provide a unique perspective of balancing their sexuality, religion, careers and relationship. And there will be a lot of belting :)

Joey Contreras is a musical theatre and pop songwriter originally from California. He is internationally known for his first album Love Me, Love Me Not, which featured an all-star lineup of Broadway talent and spawned performances of his music around the world, including the US, Australia, London, South Korea, Germany and Japan. In 2014, his second and more pop-focused album, Young Kind of Love, immediately debuted in the iTunes Pop Charts. Out Magazine labeled the sophomore effort “sexy and catchy,” and branded Joey a “Broadway-pop crossover extraordinaire.”

Hailed as one of Playbill’s “Contemporary Musical Theatre Songwriters You Should Know,” Joey is a 2018 Jonathan Larson Grant Finalist, and his musicals with bookwriter/lyricist, Kate Thomas, include Ring Around (Provincetown Playhouse, Tisch, IWU, O’Neill NMTC Finalist), and Forget Me Not (The Dare Tactic, dir. Catie Davis). He also has written the music and lyrics for the song-cycle, In Pieces (originally presented at Lincoln Center).  Joey is an alumnus of the NYU Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program (2010 ASCAP Max Dreyfus Scholarship Recipient). @joeycontreras

Brian Russell Carey is an actor and musician from Utah. Brian received his BFA in Music Dance Theatre from Brigham Young University.

He recently starred in Red Roses, Green Gold, the Grateful Dead musical Off-Broadway. Other Off-Broadway: A Christmas Carol (MOD). NYC: Club Gelbe Stern, Beau, Brass Heart. Regional: Back Home Again, Ring of Fire, All Shook Up, She Loves Me.

In addition to performing on stage, Brian is also an accomplished musician. He has worked professionally as a performing pianist and accompanist. He plays 11 instruments and is always learning new ones.  Brian also works as a music director at regional theaters across the country including Royal Caribbean International. He loves to teach and works all over the city teaching master classes and as a private vocal and audition coach.

Natalie Weiss is an actress and YouTube singing sensation who was recently featured on the Tony and Grammy-winning Dear Evan Hansen and Golden Globe-winning, Billboard chart-topping, Oscar-nominated The Greatest Showman. Natalie has previously appeared on Broadway in Everyday Rapture, in the US tours of Wicked and Les Miserables, and on the 4th season of American Idol. She has gained an international following from her performance videos and popular web series, Breaking Down The Riffs, which have received millions of hits on YouTube. @thenatalieweiss
